The social scene "The Rich Man" refers to the first part of the parable of the rich man and Lazarus (Lk. 16, 19-21). In contrast to the literary source but the beggars will not wait patiently for his alms, but he steps over the threshold of demanding wealthy home. This exceeding of the limits triggers a wide variety of reactions of the sitter. So is a contemporary genre picture from the religious history painting. Two years later, Danhauser the story in the painting "The Monastery soup" continued.
