The French painter Eugène Delacroix gave up a sophisticated drawing and designed the bouquet alone with the brush, some by a refined juxtaposition of color values. His request was not detailed representation of individual plants, as we have come to expect from Vienna's flower painting but playing their appearance. So flowers and leaves are shaped solely by quickly guided brush strokes. Not recognition, but the color effect of the ensemble was crucial. In the Austrian painting this type is taken of flowers representation until several decades later, about Hans Makart (1840-1884).
