In 1783, Hubert Robert roams the southern cities of France and remains, particularly in Nîmes, where several ancient remains were already updated. Maison Carree particularly caught his attention since he was repeatedly the subject of his paintings. It reinvents here totally monument erecting above a river where women wash clothes.
